Why do we keep wanting things that never seem to satisfy us?
We imagine desire as something simple.
Wanting another person.
Another promotion.
Another life.
But desire is far more pervasive than that.
It shapes what we pursue, what we fear losing, who we become and even the futures we imagine ourselves living.
We spend our lives chasing love, success and certainty, believing that one more achievement, one more relationship or one more version of ourselves will finally be enough.
Yet every finish line quietly becomes another starting line.
In Desire, Reece D'silva combines autobiographical fiction, psychology and philosophy to examine the machinery of wanting through six stages: Hunger, Projection, Consumption, Possession, Withdrawal and Desire.
From attraction and addiction to identity, relationships and the stories we construct about our own lives, Desire asks a deceptively simple question:
What if desire was never the problem?
